Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art, UK
2017 - ongoing
YouthLab is CFCCA’s programme for young people (aged 16-25) who are interested in contemporary art and developing – or considering developing – a career in the arts and culture sector. Through a series of free practical workshops, artist talks and cultural trips, those who take part are offered the opportunity to work alongside CFCCA staff, artists and local, national and international practitioners to develop their skills and experience and work on live public-facing projects.
I have been the lead artist of this programme since 2017, delivering two summer schools in 2018 & 2019 alongside year-round projects. My approach is to open up an enjoyable and accessible dialogue around contemporary art, and in the context of CFCCA to consider what it means to be a global citizen in modern society. We are an open and inclusive space in which young people can grow.
