Parque Del Art Sullivan, Mexico City
September 2022 - November 2022
In a process of decolonising the city, we spent two months mapping and considering the ecological legacy of colonisation upon Mexico City. We met weekly to walk, observe and share ideas, tracing routes from the Jamaica Flower Market in the central zone, to the floating farms (Chinampas) of Xochimilco on the outskirts.
This activity culminated the creation of a public walk and nature healing ritual at the Parque Del Arte Sullivan, a park with a legacy of hosting artists who were excluded from gallery spaces.
The healing ritual was created from the bringing together of traditional nature knowledges from the UK & Mexico. We collected found materials, including cut grass and seeds and charged them under the full moon, before giving our offering to the land.
