Lugar Común (Common Place) is a long-standing community regeneration project on the outskirts of Oaxaca City. Their work is a contemporary reframe of the indigenous idea of ‘tequio’ defined as a community obligation or spirit of working together to assist and uplift each other.
For one week I joined local artists and community organisers to contribute to the build of a new community garden space. A cultural exchange that has shaped my ongoing research into the benefit of green spaces in urban environments.
